Practice Policies
For the early morning session of practice which begins at 8:00, please arrive between 7:45 and 7:55 so that swimmers are ready to begin stretching and warming up precisely at 8:00. Older swimmers are also encouraged to arrive early and to assist the coaches in preparing the pool for practice (putting in lane ropes, blocks & flags).
Younger advanced swimmers may be invited to join the early session of practice. Whether or not a swimmer is permitted to join is up to the discretion of the coaching staff.
Suits should be appropriate for competition.
For new swimmers, goggles are highly recommend. A swim cap is recommended but is not required. For swimmers that are more comfortable with a nose clip, they are permitted.
Please permit the coaches to perform their duties during the practice session. They are available for questions and concerns before or after practice, but not during a session.
Swimmers are encouraged to participate as much as possible in practice but attendance is not mandatory. It is not necessary to advise the team if a swimmer will not be at practice.
For any children that attend the YMCA summer day camp and will be brought to practice or picked up from practice by YMCA staff, please contact us to discuss what information we need.
In the event of inclement weather, we generally do not cancel a practice until that morning. Notice is generally given via a text alert. If a practice is cancelled due to weather, it will not be rescheduled for another date.
